SCULPTURES OF JUCHE KOREA Fine Art Book of pictures and explanations of the most important artistic Juche style revolutionary socialist monuments and sculpture in North Korea.
Excerpts from the introductory page:
Sculpture of our country is brilliantly flowering as part of the revolutionary fine arts, national in form and socialist in content. Our sculpture developing on the basis of the Juche-oriented literary and art thought depicts vividly the wide dimension of the Korean people's struggle for national liberation and socialist construction. As a component part of the Juche-oriented fine arts, varieties of sculpture are developing fully and a number of excellent sculptures delineating the features of the times and the aspiration of the people with high ideological and artistic standard have been created.
The grand monument on Mansu Hill, the grand monument on Wangjae, the grand monument in Samjiyon, the Tower of Juche Idea and the Arch of Triumph are historic creations representing Juche-oriented monumental sculpture.
The glorious and brilliant revolutionary history of the great leader President Kim II Sung and his everlasting exploits are expressed in these monuments.
The Chollima Statue on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang symbolizes in an intensive way the revolutionary mettle and the vigorous spirit of our people who rush forward on the winged horse, Chollima, towards the ideal society of mankind. Our monumental sculptures are distinguished with the profundity and compactness of thought-content, the magnificence and exquisiteness of representation, the perfect composition and the harmony with surroundings. The sculptures "Hero Anti-Japanese Guerrillas," "The Supreme Command Is in Sight" and "Annihilation" show the excellent craftsmanship of the sculptors. These sculptural pieces, which bring to life the delicate feeling of the characters leave indelible impressions on visitors. Besides, "Chollima Workteam Member", "Blessed Baby", "Little Soldier" and other sculptures depict impressively the beautiful, inner world of the people of our era, their intensive struggle in labour and the happy life of our people under the socialist system. Viewers are rooted to the spot for a long while before the sculptures.
Sculptural pieces also expose the nature of the old exploiter society against the people in the colony and reflect the struggle of the South Korean people for democratization of society and for independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Our sculptures are loved by people for the depth of thought-content, the life-like portrayal of the reality, lucid expression and varieties of style.
